Village & Countryside
The Li-An Lodge is located in Ping An Village mostly inhabited by Zhuang minority people. Nearby are several other villages within walking distance, such as Huangluo Village inhabited by the Yao minority people. During the day, you can follow several hiking routes to other scenic spots and local villages in the vicinity. These routes are easy to follow with a map provided by the lodge. If you wish to have a guide, the lodge can help to find a local villager at additional cost.
- Route 1 starts from the lodge, 500 meters up the hill to Viewpoint 2 where the terrace landscape resembles seven stars surrounding the moon. There is a beautiful view encompassing the town and valley below from Viewpoint 2. Continue on the trail winding along the terraces to reach Viewpoint 1, where the terrace landscape resembles nine dragons and five tigers. Back to the lodge through Ping An village center. It is about 2.5 miles, taking about 2 hours.
- Route 2 starts from the lodge, walk to ancient village of Longji, then back to the lodge. It is about 3 miles, taking about 2.5 hours.
- For a less vigorous walking tour, the lodge is located in the midst of Ping An Village, with several pedestrian only paths through the town center where local village life can be observed first hand.
- The village of Dazhai, mainly lived by the Red Yao people, is about 6 miles (10 km) from Li-An Lodge.A round trip hiking will take a whole day. There are beautiful rice terraces in the region as well. This hiking is more strenuous and therefore recommended to advanced hikers.
